A headteacher of a school in Kisumu county has committed suicide inside the school compound after being given a transfer.
The headteacher of Nyabondo Boys Boarding Primary School killed himself in what many believe is as a result of being transferred from the school.
He is said to have left behind a suicide note revealing that he was not happy with the transfer he had been handed.
Nyabondo Boys Boarding Primary was among the many schools that experienced arson attacks in July 2016, and the transfer of the deceased may have come as a result.
The school’s dormitory was razed to the ground as incidents of school fires swept across the country.
Teachers bore the burden of the arson attacks, with some facing the wrath of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) over the same.
Education CS Fred Matiang’i also blamed some teachers for the arson attacks.
Itiero Boys’ High school whose seven dormitories were burnt saw its principal transferred controversially, something that triggered protests from the community.
